🎥 Isaac del Toro's return after the Tour de France doesn't go well as Mexican rider crashes in Hamburg

Isaac del Toro returned to competition on Sunday at the ADAC Cyclassics in Hamburg following the Tour de France, but it didn't go entirely smoothly. The Mexican rider from UAE Emirates-XRG crashed in the feed zone but was able to continue the race.

The German race marked Del Toro’s first competitive kilometers since the Tour de France, where he finished third in July. The Mexican did, however, take the time afterward to cheer on his girlfriend, Romina Hinojosa, during the Tour de France Femmes and, in the meantime, also extended his contract with UAE Emirates-XRG.

Del Toro's return on Sunday didn't go entirely smoothly, as he took a fall while reaching for a snack bag in Hamburg. He was able to get back up fairly quickly, though, and continue on his way in Hamburg, where he had to make the most of the Wasenberg climb to gain an edge over the many sprinters in the race.

Isaac del Toro and Tadej Pogačar traveled to Nice to support their partners during the Tour de France Femmes. Del Toro, third in the men’s Tour and winner of the young rider’s jersey, assisted his long-time partner Romina Hinojosa (Lotto-Intermarché) with cooling during the race and greeted her at the finish; she completed the event second-last overall before they celebrated with pizza. Pogačar, wearing a playful “HAB” shirt while cheering fiancée Urška Žigart, also starred in a comedic Sporza video where a presenter pretended not to recognize him; he joked about riding with Žigart. Žigart finished 48th overall and 19th on the final stage after returning from a broken jaw sustained at the Tour de Suisse. Read more
