Team background
The team was formed in 2010 as a UCI Conti team called Team NetApp. After the first season, it was promoted to a ProContinental Team. For the 2013 season, Team NetApp and British based Endura Racing merged to form NetApp-Endura. In 2014, the team announced a sponsorship partner in BORA, a German oven hardware company. BORA became the first German team with a German title sponsor in the professional peloton since 2010.
In 2016, the team announced their partnership with Hansgrohe, a German bathroom products manufacturer. In 2017, the team secured WorldTeam status. In January 2024, Red Bull announced plans to acquire interests in the owners, and ahead of the Tour that year, the team was officially re-named Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe.
Between 2017 and 2021 Peter Sagan rode for BORA-hansgrohe. During that time he won Paris-Roubaix, which currently remains the team's only monument victory. The sprinting great also won two of his record seven green jerseys at the Tour de France during his time with the team.
In 2022, Jai Hindley won the General Classification at the Giro d'Italia, securing the team's first Grand Tour win. In 2024, Primož Roglič won the Vuelta a España.
The team has faced some leadership problems since the signing of time-trialing powerhouse Remco Evenepoel. Most recently, the team faced some tension between co-leaders Evenepoel and Lipowitz at the 2026 Tour de France. Evenepoel went on to place second behind Tadej Pogačar. Lipowitz did not finish the Tour, as he was forced to withdraw after a high-speed crash. At the time of crashing, the German was 5th on GC.
