Follow us on GoogleJayco AlUla and UAE Emirates-XRG did not emerge unscathed from the eleventh stage of the Vuelta a España. Rising star Kevin Vermaerke went down in the bunch. The Australian team Jayco also had a rough time, with two riders sustaining serious injuries.

The first was Hamish McKenzie, who crashed hard 39 kilometers from the finish line and remained on the ground in obvious pain. UAE Emirates-XRG was hit again as well, with Kevin Vermaerke taking another tumble. The American had already broken a rib in this Vuelta, but this was just the icing on the cake.

Hellemose gets stabbed in the eye during the Vuelta
Two kilometers after McKenzie’s crash, we saw another Jayco AlUla purple jersey on screen. The Danish rider Asbjørn Hellemose stopped by the medical car because something had gotten into his eye. The doctor treated it, but in the worst-case scenario, it could turn into a pretty big bump.
