Did you miss it? Tom Pidcock was caught in a crash during Stage 17 of the Tour de France

Tom Pidcock was involved in a crash during Stage 17 on Wednesday. In an insanely fast race, a few riders suddenly went down on the right side of the road. Many of them didn’t seem to hit the ground too hard and were able to continue. Among them was Pidcock, who was spotted wearing his Red Bull helmet while riding for Pinarello-Q36.5.

The crash occurred in the early stages of the race. In addition to Pidcock, we also saw Lenny Martinez (Bahrain Victorious), Piet Allegaert (Cofidis), and Dylan van Baarle (Soudal Quick-Step), among others, lying on the ground. In total, the jury report listed six riders who stopped by the medical car during the stage. It’s not certain, however, that all of these riders were involved in this crash.

Thibault Guernalec (TotalEnergies) was experiencing pain in his right knee and wrist and also underwent a concussion test. Dorian Godon (Netcompany INEOS) complained of pain in his ribs, while Davide Ballerini (XDS Astana) was suffering from pain in his left knee and shin. Pinarello-Q36.5 also saw Fred Wright crash, resulting in injuries to his right knee and left hand.

The Briton even stopped by the medical truck after the stage for a scan, but—given the lack of an update from Pinarello-Q36.5—he seemed to be okay. The same was true for Jose Felix Parra Cuerda, who also had his left wrist scanned on behalf of Caja Rural. In addition to Guernalec, TotalEnergies also saw Alexandre Delettre take a fall. He sustained bruises to his right elbow.

Any other names we recognized in the video below? Michael Storer (Tudor), Robert Stannard (Bahrain), and Kasper Asgreen (EF Education-EasyPost), for starters. Although this trio seemed to make a soft landing. As mentioned, everyone was ultimately able to continue on their way, though it was obviously not a great start to the day and not a great moment heading into three days of racing in the Alps.
