The cycling world was buzzing on Wednesday after a Strava post from Tadej Pogačar. The Slovenian had shared a story about an awkward encounter with a fan — but the upload also revealed something else: truly exceptional power data for what he labelled a “relaxed coffee ride”. Even on a recovery spin, Pogačar appears to be riding at levels most amateurs can only dream of. Pogačar’s
Strava post followed the
incident and included a pointed message about respect. In the end, the world champion still left room for humour and perspective: “I love you all… as long as they don’t behave like spoiled teenagers.”
But the numbers on the ride were arguably even more jaw-dropping. Over 136 kilometres, the four-time Tour de France winner reportedly averaged 307 watts — and did so comfortably, with his heart rate barely pushing beyond Zone 3. For Pogačar, this was an “easy” spin to grab a coffee.
To put it into perspective: at roughly 66 kilograms, that average power equates to around 4.65 watts per kilo. In other words, if you want to sit on Pogačar’s wheel, you may need to be pushing serious numbers even when he’s supposedly taking it easy. The world champion continues to amaze — even on the way to a cappuccino.

Coffee ride with teammate Sivakov
On Friday, Pogačar also posted photos from recent training days on Instagram — including, of course, the coffee stops. He rode alongside teammate
Pavel Sivakov and Žiga Jerman. Jerman is a close friend of Pogačar and, since this season, also his personal masseur. The trio have been training in sunny Spain as they build towards the start of the new season.
Pogačar is expected to begin his season in Italy, where he will hunt a successful title defence at Strade Bianche. After that, he is set to take another shot at Milano–Sanremo — one of the Monuments still missing from his palmarès. Sivakov, meanwhile, is due to start earlier at the Vuelta a Andalucía.
