The Belgian Cycling Federation has finalised their teams for the 2026 World Cycling Championships in Montreal, Canada. Remco Evenepoel (road and time trial) and Wout van Aert (road only) lead the men’s squads. Lotte Kopecky is the obvious standout in the elite women’s category. The junior and U23 squads also feature strong lineups.

Evenepoel and Van Aert will have a strong team around them. Tiesj Benoot, Quinten Hermans, Gianni Vermeersch, and certainly Maxim Van Gils bring the necessary experience to the table, and they should all be considered capable of keeping up for a long time on the city circuit in Montreal.

Thibau Nys has worked his way into contention

Thibau Nys has earned his place on the team for the Vuelta a España, while Alec Segaert, as a time trial specialist, is also a logical addition for the early stages. Rune Herregodts will also compete in the World Time Trial Championships, but, like Jenno Berckmoes and Tim Rex, he is a reserve for the road race.
Tim Wellens, Florian Vermeersch, Ilan Van Wilder, Victor Campenaerts, and Jarno Widar, among others, had already withdrawn from the World Championships for various reasons.
