Lidl-Trek secures the leader's jersey in Vuelta Feminina: "Van Dijk's crash is a bummer, though"

Lidl-Trek emerged as the winners of the nail-biting team time trial at La Vuelta Feminina. It was a game of hundredths of a second, but in the end, the American team was just a tad faster than Visma | Lease a Bike and SD Worx.

Representing Lidl-Trek, Gaia Realini was the first to cross the finish line, earning her the title of the first leader. "I am very happy with this result," the 22-year-old Italian said in the flash interview. "It's wonderful for both me and the team."

Van Dijk and Backstedt crashed

"However, I'm not completely satisfied, as in the very last corner two of my teammates fell," she referred to the crash involving Ellen van Dijk and Elynor Backstedt (fortunately, both were able to continue).

"Still, I'm obviously very happy. I'm looking forward to the upcoming stages," she concluded. "We'll do everything we can to keep this jersey within the team," she ended the brief but powerful interview.
