If you thought it would be a quiet period between the Tour de France and the Vuelta a España, you were wrong. Races such as the Tour of Poland and the Tour of Burgos are over, but in addition to the Tour of Denmark, riders can also prepare for the Tour of the Czech Republic. The Central European country has once again put together a superb route: IDLProCycling.com shows you what to expect! The Czech Tour has not been around for very long: the multi-day race was established in 2010.
That edition was won by hometown hero Leopold König, who later finished seventh in the Tour de France. In the fourteen editions that followed, quite a few big names were proclaimed winners: men such as Diego Ulissi, Filippo Zana, and Florian Lipowitz are among the winners. In 2024, Marc Hirschi was the last winner.

Course, favorites stage wins and times Tour of the Czech Republic 2025
Stage 1, Thursday, Aug. 14, 2025: Prague - Karlovy Vary (163.2 km)
The Tour of the Czech Republic starts with a tricky stage. The first stage has over 2000 meters of climbing, although the climbs are never really long or difficult. However, the constantly rolling course could make it very difficult for the fastest men. Will we see a battle between the GC contenders in the first stage?

Stage 2, Friday, Aug. 15, 2025: Pardubice - Diouhé Stráne (172.8 km)
It's time for the first mountain top finish! On paper, the second stage doesn't look difficult at all, until the final climb. Roughly 150 kilometers are relatively flat, but once you reach Loucna nad Desnou, the road starts to climb steadily. The final climb isn't tough, but this is where we're likely to see some action among the GC contenders.

Stage 3, Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025: Prostejov - Ostrava (148.4 km)
The penultimate stage looks like it will be one for the sprinters. The opening stage was already a chance for the fast men, but the ride to Ostrava is almost completely flat, apart from a few climbs in the opening phase. However, a left-hand corner in the final could make the sprint quite chaotic.

Stage 4, Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025: Kromeriz - Pustevny ( km)
This is the stage where it all has to happen! The final stage of the Tour of the Czech Republic is the queen stage, with roughly 2,700 meters of climbing. The focus is on the Pustevny climb, which is tackled twice. It's not really a killer, but it's certainly not easy. It could well be that the battle for the GC is only decided in the final kilometers.

Favorites final classification Tour of the Czech Republic 2025
There is one name that really stands out on the start list. Cian Uijtdebroeks will start as the absolute favorite, especially given his overall victory in the Tour de l'Ain last week. He also has a very strong team around him, with both Thomas Gloag and Tijmen Graat as backup leaders for
Visma | Lease a Bike. The Brit Gloag
won his first professional race here, after a year of injuries.
Who are the main challengers? To be honest, there aren't many. There is only one other WorldTour team at the start in Soudal Quick-Step. The Belgian team is mainly focusing on young riders, so guys like Gil Gelders and Antoine Huby will have to do the job. Equipo Kern Pharma has more power across the board: they can count on Ivan Ramiro Sosa, Urko Berrade, and José Felix Parra.
The continental team JCL Ukyo always seems to have someone at the front. With Nahom Zeray, they have brought a great Eritrean climbing talent in. Still, Alessandro Fancellu is also excellent in the mountains: the former Q36.5 rider finished eighth in the AlUla Tour this year. His compatriot Lorenzo Quartucci (Solution Tech - Vini Fantini) has also shown some promising form.

During the Czech Tour, it will be exciting to keep an eye on the young talents. There are a lot of guys who are somewhat undetected but are ready to take a step forward. Bálint Feldhoffer, for example, the Hungarian will ride for Bahrain Victorious next year, but will continue to represent United Shipping for now. And what about Luke Tuckwell? The Australian from Red Bull BORA-hansgrohe finished second in the Giro Next Gen, where he wore the pink jersey until the last day. This will be one of his first big tests at the highest level.
The XDS-Astana development team is mainly focusing on the climbing legs of Colombian Santiago Umba. The Austrian Hrinkow Advarics has the experienced Edward Ravasi and Riccardo Zoidl in its team, and the talented Jannis Peter rides for Vorarlberg. Fresh from the Tour of Poland, Marcin Budzinski and Piotr Pekala are making the trip to the Czech Republic on behalf of ATT Investments.
