Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe is working hard to climb to the absolute top of the WorldTour. The arrival of Remco Evenepoel was the team’s biggest addition, but across the board the squad has tried to take steps forward. That included bringing in new sports directors — but one of them has now already said goodbye to his duties and to the sport.
Tony Gallopin was recruited by Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe to strengthen the core of sports directors. Gallopin after Lotto success as sports director at Red Bull - for a short time
Gallopin became a professional in 2010 with Cofidis, after which he moved to Radioshack-Nissan in 2012. On that team, he won the Clásica San Sebastián. After two years in American service he found his place with the Belgian Lotto Soudal, where he achieved his biggest success: he took the yellow jersey in Stage 9 of the 2014 Tour de France, lost it a day later, but then won the stage the following day.
He also won a stage in the Vuelta a España, a stage in Paris-Nice and the GP Wallonie. In 2023 he stopped racing, after which he became a team director at Lotto Dstny. He remained there for two years, after which he chose the German adventure. That turned out to be of short duration.
