A grim prognosis for Timo Roosen of Picnic PostNL. The former Dutch champion took a hard fall during last Sunday’s GP Monseré, sustaining eleven broken bones, but after a few days in the hospital in Roeselare, he was able to share some relatively positive news via his social media channels. “Well… I had a bad crash during the GP Monseré,” Roosen begins his post on
Instagram alongside a photo of himself standing outside the hospital.
“The result: 11 broken bones and a collapsed lung,” he shares. “A big thank you to the AZ Delta Hospital in Roeselare for the excellent care over the past few days, in a pleasant atmosphere and with a funny dialect.”
Roosen can go home again
Roosen is now returning to Brabant, where he will begin his rehabilitation. ‘Time to go home, but recovery will take a while. My collarbone is back in place and the drain has been removed.’
‘In addition, the six ribs and four protrusions in my spine still need some time to heal and become less painful,’ concludes the Picnic PostNL rider.
