Tom Pidcock announces his pre-World Cycling Championships schedule, including an interesting trip to Italy

The British rider from Pinarello-Q36.5 became world champion for the second time on what is perhaps his favourite bike. But he still has a few road races scheduled on his calendar in 2026. The climber will begin his journey toward the Canadian Road World Championships in Italy.

Pidcock pulled it off yet again in Val di Sole. Even though he barely rode his mountain bike this year, he dominated to become the mountain bike world champion —something Mathieu van der Poel was unable to achieve. That result came on the heels of a successful Tour de France, where Pidcock finished ninth overall.
Can Pidcock transfer MTB success to the road?
That was a great result, especially since things hadn’t always gone his way for the rest of 2026. Pidcock got off to a strong start in Spain, winning a stage at the Ruta del Sol, taking the title at Milan–Turin, and narrowly missing victory at Milan–Sanremo.
He then fell into a ravine during the Tour of Catalonia, forcing him to be sidelined for a long time. He made his comeback in the Tour of the Alps, where he surprisingly won a stage right away.
Pidcock wrapped up the first half of 2026 with a second-place finish at Eschborn-Frankfurt and returned one more time in June, claiming victory at the Andorra MoraBanc Clàssica, right in his backyard.
He wasn’t at his absolute best in the Tour de France, but Pidcock improved as the race went on, first chasing stage wins and then holding on to a spot in the top ten of the general classification. It was a positive outcome for the Yorkshireman.

After a short break following the World Championships, Pidcock is returning to the road. On Sunday, September 6, he will compete in the GP Industria & Artigianato, an interesting race with plenty of climbing, somewhat similar to the World Championship course in Montreal.
In Italy, Pidcock will face off against Jan Christen (UAE), Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain), Romain Grégoire (Groupama), and Christian Scaroni (Astana), among others.
Pidcock will go from Italy straight to Canada
After Sunday’s one-day race in Italy, Pidcock will head to Canada, where he will compete in the GP Québec and GP Montréal. The latter will be particularly important, as it serves as a dress rehearsal for the World Championships in late September.
Like many other riders, Pidcock will remain in Canada between the GP Montréal and the World Championships to ensure he is perfectly prepared in his quest for another world title.
Pidcock will lead Pinarello Q36.5 in the GP Industria & Artigianato and will be backed by a strong team. Chris Harper, Matteo Badilatti, Sjoerd Bax, Quinten Hermans, Nicolo Parisini, and his brother Joseph Pidcock will support the team leader.
