🎥 Wout van Aert lost his sunglasses at the Vuelta, and he wants them back: ‘I’m not Pogačar!’

Wout van Aert will once again be popping champagne on Wednesday evening at the Vuelta a España. The Belgian rider from Visma | Lease a Bike led Christophe Laporte and Matthew Brennan into the final kilometer, after which Brennan skillfully finished the job and claimed his second stage victory. The mood was certainly upbeat afterward, though Van Aert did make one more appeal.

"It's a shame—I don't have my sunglasses anymore," the Belgian began his account on Eurosport. "Just before the race, I noticed they were a little loose on my head. When I looked back, they just flew right off."

"I'm not Pogačar, who gets a new pair of glasses every day," Van Aert said with a touch of humor, referring to the glasses that his young son Georges received from Tadej Pogačar after Day 2. "So if anyone finds them, please bring them back!"

Van Aert said he was fully on board with going for Brennan. “Well, when you have Matthew with you in a group like that, that’s the best card to play. I don’t even need to see the replay to know how he finished it off… It’s just bizarre.”

"It comes very close to the feeling of winning yourself," said Van Aert, who will have checked off Thursday's gravel stage himself.
