Brutal timing with the shared course—can’t imagine what’s going through Pogacar’s head having to start his stage after that. Respect to both tours sharing the spotlight, but organizers really need to reassess those bumps and finish-area hazards.

Gianetti is right: the Tour isn’t a calculator. Even with UAE’s firepower, three weeks throws everything at you—weather, nerves, crashes, tactics. If Vingegaard gets to the start close to his best, we might finally get the full heavyweight bout again. Either way, Pogacar’s showmanship is keeping the sport buzzing.

Tough break for Almeida if he’s still affected by the virus, but respect to the team for not rushing him. Long season and a long career to think about. If he’s out, I’d bet on Großschartner—quietly consistent and perfect for controlling those medium-mountain days.

That 70 km solo in Suisse said everything. When Pog decides to go, the peloton second-guesses itself and the gap just balloons. People call it “the others letting him ride,” but you still have to produce monster watts on a hot day. Panache and power—rare combo.

As much as the crashes have hammered UAE this year, the depth still looks ridiculous. Del Toro flying in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, McNulty sharp in Suisse, and the classics engines like Politt/Wellens to shepherd Tadej on flats—hard to see Pog needing much more. Curious whether Yates or Großschartner gets the final nod.

- That quote about “If I wanted to do1 races, I might as well have stayed U23” made me smile—love the ambition. The 21-minute loss on Day 1 isn’t pretty, but after a virus and a crash, it’s understandable. Give him a few weeks of racing and he’ll climb with the best again. Lotto-Intermarché might have a gem on their hands if he hits form by the Vuelta.

- Really impressed by Widar’s mindset after such a rough spring. Four weeks off the bike with a knee issue is no joke, and coming back at the Tour de Suisse just to get race rhythm shows maturity beyond his years. Results now don’t matter—if his training numbers are already better than early season and he’s got an altitude camp lined up before San Sebastián/Burgos/Vuelta, the second half could be exciting.

Tragic reminder of how vulnerable riders are, even in training. May Shane’s memory be a blessing, and may his family find strength in the love surrounding them.

My heart goes out to Liam for finishing a stage before receiving such news—unimaginable. Kudos to Lidl-Trek and Cycling Ireland for their support. RIP Shane.
