Visma | Lease a Bike did not compete for the podium places in the Tour of Lombardy on Saturday, but with Cian Uijtdebroeks (tenth) and Ben Tulett (sixteenth), it did have two men in the top twenty. And what might have been possible if Sepp Kuss had not crashed in the opening phase? The American finished 26th, but was spotted with a bleeding face along the way.
Kuss's face looked pretty bad on Saturday, but it was the result of a somewhat silly crash at the back of the peloton. Kuss had to slam on the brakes at a narrow passage after a roundabout, but was unable to avoid contact with the rider in front of him. The American tumbled over his handlebars and fell face-first into the rear wheel of Giulio Pellizzari (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe).

Kuss captured with bloodied face, but still finished

The organization reported that Kuss was back on his bike quickly after the crash and was soon captured on camera by photographer Kramon. At that moment, blood was still running down his left cheek, undoubtedly the result of his crash into Pellizzari's rear wheel. However, by the time he crossed the finish line in Bergamo in 26th place, the injury had been treated.
