In the run-up to the race, Campenaerts spoke to
Het Nieuwsblad about this phenomenon and the nose strips the team uses. 'I'm really into nose breathing. The idea is that you give the body reverse feedback. When you're struggling, you normally start hyperventilating through your mouth. But if you force yourself to breathe through your nose at such moments, you give the body a relaxation stimulus.'
āYou shouldn't expect miracles from these strips, but once you get the hang of using them, I think you'll see a slight improvement. That's why I had my nose hair removed for the Vuelta,ā said Campenaerts.
The vlog shows how Ben Tulett, Matteo Jorgenson, Wilco Kelderman, and Sepp Kuss also have their nose hair plucked.
