After a well-deserved rest day, the Giro d'Italia continues on Tuesday with an individual time trial. This is the second and final time trial of this Giro d'Italia, in which the fast riders and GC contenders will have to go all out. IDLProCycling.com provides you with a detailed preview! Route time trial stage 10 Giro d'Italia 2025
The time trial starts in Lucca and ends in the nearby city of Pisa, covering a total distance of 28.6 kilometers. The two cities have some technical passages, but otherwise, the terrain is mainly flat without too many climbs.
In Lucca, the riders start with a lap around the city walls, leaving the city with a technical section heading south. After 8.3 kilometers, the first intermediate point is reached, where the road also starts to climb slightly through the almost kilometer-long Monti Pisani tunnel.
Via Asciano, where the second intermediate point is planned, the riders cycle one by one towards Pisa. The finish is next to the famous Tower of Pisa, with a short cobbled section to be conquered in the final kilometer.

Unfortunately, it looks like the riders will have to endure heavy rain in the afternoon, which will obviously impact the time trial. The riders must also be extra careful on the cobbled section in the final phase, as the temperature will rise above 20 degrees Celsius.

On day two, we already saw a showdown between the time trialists in Tirana, which gives us a good reference point for what to expect on Tuesday. However, we should note that the time trial in Albania was different: shorter and punchy, with a small climb.
Nevertheless, the contenders will be the same, with
Joshua Tarling of INEOS Grenadiers in the lead. The Welshman won his first stage in a Grand Tour in this Giro d'Italia and will be keen to add a second to boost the good mood of his INEOS Grenadiers team.
It was an absolute thriller in Tirana, with
Primoz Roglic of Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe finishing within a second of Tarling. After losing time in the gravel stage, he will be keen to make up time on
Juan Ayuso of UAE Emirates-XRG, whom he already beat in the first time trial. It should be noted, however, that the Spaniard crashed the day before.
Ayuso still has some good time trialists on his team, including
Jay Vine,
Brandon McNulty, and
Isaac del Toro. In Albania, Lidl-Trek also placed several men in the top ten, with
Mathias Vacek and Daan Hoole as specialists and the strong Mads Pedersen. It remains to be seen whether the Dane will go all out again. The same goes for
Wout van Aert of Visma | Lease a Bike, who can ride an intense time trial on a good day. After his victory in Siena, he seems to be (almost) back to his old self, so keep an eye on him!
Specialists such as Edoardo Affini (Visma | Lease a Bike), Ethan Hayter, Mattia Cattaneo (Soudal Quick-Step), and Jan Tratnik (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) are also worth noting. Among the GC contenders, Thymen Arensman (INEOS Grenadiers), Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain Victorious), and Derek Gee (Israel-Premier Tech) can hope to gain time. Michael Storer (Tudor) and the Yates brothers could also do well on a good day, while pure climbers such as Gulio Ciccone (Lidl-Trek), Egan Bernal (INEOS), and Richard Carapaz (EF) will be looking to limit the damage.
