Disturbing news from Unibet Rose Rockets. The French-Dutch team competed at the Tour de Langkawi in Malaysia last week. On the 6th stage, French sprinter Ronan Augé crashed hard. His injuries are so severe that he is being kept in an induced coma. Augé was signed this year from the continental team CIC-U Nantes and immediately demonstrated his talents for Bas Tietema’s team. The daring rider threw himself into the sprints, even securing his first professional victory: he won (following Noa Isidore’s disqualification) the second stage of the
Route d’Occitanie.
Augé crashed out of the Tour de Langkawi
In the Tour of Langkawi, he served as the Rockets’ lead-out man. He made his mark there as well, finishing fourth in both Stage 1 and Stage 3. After a few mountain stages, it was back to the sprinters in Stage 6, but we saw teammate Rory Townsend, his lead-out man, suddenly finish in fourth place. What had happened?
Augé turned out to have been involved in a crash. It happened fairly early in the day, out of the cameras’ view. But it later became clear that the injuries were very severe. “Our rider Ronan Augé sustained serious injuries in a crash during Stage 6 of the Tour of Langkawi,” according to a press release posted on the team’s
Instagram account.

Augé is being kept in an induced coma
No unnecessary risks are being taken at this time regarding Augé's condition. "He has been taken to the hospital, where he will be kept in an induced coma to optimize his treatment. Fortunately, Ronan's condition is currently stable, and his life is not in danger."
The nature of the injuries has not yet been disclosed. “Our thoughts are with Ronan and his family, and we are in contact with the medical team in Malaysia.” Augé is the son of former professional cyclist Stéphane Augé, who rode for teams including Crédit Agricole, Festina, and Cofidis.
