Good and bad news for UAE Emirates-XRG regarding Tadej Pogačar and the future

Follow us on GoogleUAE Emirates-XRG confirmed Saturday that Tadej Pogacar will not race again in 2026 following his serious crash in the Vuelta a España. However, the Emirati team was also able to add a positive note to that press release, as the team leader and reigning world champion will continue to race for the team through at least 2026.

"UAE Team Emirates-XRG is proud to announce that Tadej Pogačar has extended his contract with the team through the end of the 2032 season," the statement reads.

Pogacar is, of course, pleased with the agreement, which had reportedly been in the works for some time. “From the very beginning, this team has felt like home to me. We’ve grown together over the years and shared some incredible moments, so I’m very happy to extend my contract through 2032.”
"There is still a lot I want to achieve in this sport, and I believe this is the right place to do it. I am very grateful for the trust the team has placed in me and excited about what we can continue to build together," Pogacar said in a statement released by his team.

Pogacar will not race in 2026: 'Giving my body time to recover'
The fact that Pogacar won't be racing again this year is a logical consequence of his serious crash in the Vuelta. “Right now, the most important thing is to recover properly and give my body the time it needs,” said the Slovenian, who unfortunately must also part with his rainbow jersey.
"Following his crash at La Vuelta, Tadej will not return to racing this season, as he is focusing entirely on his recovery and rehabilitation. Get well soon, Tadej. We'll see you back in 2027," concludes his team, UAE Emirates-XRG.
