More and more races have decided to ban Israel-Premier Tech. Pressure on the Israeli team was particularly intense in Spain and Italy, where tensions flared during the Vuelta a España. After several unsuccessful attempts to calm the situation, the team made the ultimate decision: to drop its Israeli identity.
Since last year, Israel-Premier Tech has often encountered protesters at various cycling races. Almost always, it was just a handful of people with pro-Palestinian flags, but the pressure grew as the war in Gaza progressed. It reached a boiling point in the Vuelta, where four stages were shortened or canceled due to protests.
In the fall, the team was repeatedly barred from races, such as the Giro dell'Emilia. Sponsors Factor and Premier Tech also decided that a change was needed; otherwise they would distance themselves. According to a press statement from the team, the pressure has become too much, and this will be the last year the team will be known as Israel-Premier Tech.
“The team takes pride in its achievements on the road, but even more so in the culture it has built within. This culture has been the foundation that enabled the team to overcome the challenges of recent months, standing firmly behind our riders and staff during an incredibly difficult period. Throughout this time, the team’s owners and management have recognized the need for change.”

Sylvan Adams steps down as team owner

“The decision has been made to rename and rebrand the team, moving away from its current Israeli identity,” the team said. “In sport, progress often requires sacrifice, and this step is essential to securing the future of the team." No more Israel - Premier Tech, but the team will also no longer ride under the Israeli flag.
The team will also be led by a new figure: Sylvan Adams is stepping back from his duties as owner of the team. "Sylvan Adams has chosen to step back from his day-to-day involvement and will no longer speak on behalf of the team, instead focusing on his role as President of the World Jewish Congress, Israel."
