Netcompany INEOS is the last team to announce its roster for the Vuelta a España. As expected, the British team will field
Oscar Onley as its general classification contender, but will also bring Joshua Tarling to Monaco. The Briton recently
lost his younger brother Finlay but is ready to start at the Tour of Spain.
As mentioned, Onley is the leader of Netcompany INEOS, which, with the 23-year-old climber, also has a contender for the white youth jersey on its roster. Onley missed the Tour de France
due to a shoulder injury, but a second-place finish in the Tour of Burgos (including a stage win) demonstrated his strong form.
On the climbs, Onley will receive support from Carlos Rodriguez, Jack Haig, Lucas Hamilton, and Embret Svestad-Bårdseng. Rodriguez’s role is particularly interesting, as the 25-year-old Spaniard finished seventh and tenth in the Vuelta in 2022 and 2024, respectively. He was also the team leader in the 2023 (fifth) and 2024 (seventh) Tour de France.
Axel Laurance is the designated puncher for explosive finishes, though Onley was, of course, also quite capable in that regard. Ben Turner is going for the sprints, knowing he can handle a small hill. Finally, Tarling is on the roster, which is certainly a surprise. His brother, Finley Tarling, recently passed away during the Tour of Portugal.

Geraint Thomas explains the division of roles at Netcompany INEOS
Geraint Thomas calls the Vuelta a España “a great opportunity to finish our Grand Tour season on a strong note.” “I have confidence in the team we’re bringing and in the riders’ ability to adapt to whatever the race has in store for us. The Vuelta is always tough, but we’re in this as one team and we’re looking forward to it.”
Onley is riding his first Grand Tour with INEOS, after breaking through as a stage racer last year with a fourth-place finish in the Tour de France while riding for Picnic PostNL. “He’s ambitious and eager to race. He’s had some setbacks this season, but his stage win in Burgos showed that he’s recovered and has strong legs. We know what he’s capable of and will give him the freedom to race.”
Onley adds: "I feel really good and would like to test myself in the coming weeks." Regarding the presence of the grieving Tarling, only Thomas comments: "It should be clear that we support Josh in his decision to compete in the Vuelta."
