Four out of five: that was Paul Magnier's score in the Tour of Slovakia. In top form, the Frenchman from Soudal Quick-Step traveled to Croatia, where he immediately scored in the opening stage of the CRO Race. Another victory for the top talent, which he may owe to his excellent preparation in Croatia.
“It's great that I've managed to win a lot in recent months,” the Frenchman said in the flash interview. The victory in the CRO Race was already the sixteenth victory of his career and no less than the eleventh (!) of this year. “Today was another great job by the team. I can't thank them enough again today,” Magnier praised his team.
It is already his sixth victory in September, as Magnier also won four stages in the Tour of Slovakia and the GP de Fourmies. In those victories, he received a great lead-out from Dries Van Gestel. “We did a fantastic job in Slovakia. We train extensively with Van Gestel to achieve a good lead-out. Today he was great again.”

Magnier dominated the Tour of Slovakia with four stage wins in five days

How many stage wins this week for Magnier? "First, let's enjoy tonight"

“I'm very happy, and we're both confident. I hope it will continue like this,” the Frenchman continued. Magnier didn't want to think too much about what was to come, although the next opportunity seems to be looming. “I'm going to enjoy this first tonight. We'll see tomorrow. It will depend on the wind and also on the last two climbs.”
There is at least no doubt that he is in top form. “My legs are good and I hope I will have as many opportunities as possible to win stages here,” he said. The rider from Laredo was undoubtedly impressed by Croatia. “It's a beautiful country. It's my first time here, and it looks really good. Yesterday we had some free time, so I went swimming. The sea is very beautiful. Today's race was also stunning.”
