The first Monument of 2026 is almost here. With Milan-Sanremo, the cycling year really comes to life, and all the biggest stars are set to sign on for La Primavera. Mathieu van der Poel, Tadej Pogacar, Filippo Ganna and Wout van Aert... all of them will be in Pavia. Who else is riding? IDLProCycling.com rounds it all up for you. The 2025 edition of Milan-Sanremo is still etched into the memory of many cycling fans. Pogacar tried to ride clear, but came up against a rock-solid duo in Van der Poel and Ganna. On the legendary Via Roma, a three-man sprint ultimately decided the race, with MVDP taking his second victory in La Primavera.
This year, the first Monument of the season once again boasts a mouth-watering field. The three major headliners are all back, and former winner Van Aert returns to Milan-Sanremo after two years away.
Jasper Philipsen, the winner in 2024, is also set to start.
In-form Isaac Del Toro will be there as well, travelling to Pavia fresh from overall victory at Tirreno-Adriatico. Riders such as Paul Magnier, Romain Grégoire, Julian Alaphilippe, Matthew Brennan and Tom Pidcock will also hope to surprise the top favourites, what a
start list!
In the women’s race, last season’s winner Lorena Wiebes will line up once again for SD Worx-Protime. While Demi Vollering of FDJ-Suez and Pauline Ferrand-Prévot of Visma | Lease a Bike are absent, the field still includes Lotte Kopecky of SD Worx-Protime, Elisa Longo Borghini of UAE Team ADQ and Marianne Vos of Visma | Lease a Bike.
