The climbers at the Tour de France can briefly catch their breath after the stage over the Tourmalet, provided everything goes according to plan. That is not entirely the case for
Sepp Kuss, the American mountain domestique for
Visma | Lease a Bike, who has broken one of his front teeth.
Kuss underlined his credentials as an excellent climber during Stage 6, eventually finishing in a group that also included Isaac del Toro, Remco Evenepoel and Paul Seixas. The American, who lives in Andorra, could no longer help team leader Jonas Vingegaard after Tadej Pogačar accelerated, but he still produced a strong performance of his own in the first major mountain test.
One day later, Kuss was suddenly riding around with a broken front tooth—something Victor Campenaerts naturally made sure to highlight in his vlog. “Sometimes you bite the bullet, but hopefully I won’t get too many interview requests,” the ever-cheerful Kuss joked in his Belgian teammate’s
daily video .

It is unclear how Kuss broke his front tooth. The next mountain stage is scheduled for Tuesday, when the Tour de France peloton heads toward Le Lioran. Before then, the riders can look forward to a well-earned rest day on Monday.
