Netcompany INEOS has announced the signing of Markel Beloki. The 21-year-old Spaniard is joining from EF Education-EasyPost and has signed a one-year contract with the British team. Beloki broke through at the highest level this year and will now have the opportunity to prove himself as a general classification rider for INEOS in the coming years. It is a piece of good news for the British team, who have been linked to rumours of shock exits this transfer window. Beloki has gone from strength to strength at EF Education-EasyPost
In his younger years, Beloki was one of the most promising juniors. His father, Joseba Beloki, was one of the best Spanish riders of his time, and Beloki Jr. also showed tremendous talent from an early age. EF Education-EasyPost therefore decided to sign him from a small club team in 2024 and immediately add him to the WorldTour roster.
It was a huge step, but in three years the Spaniard has shown some amazing things.
For example, at the age of 18, he finished second in the Spanish time trial championship. This year, he showed his strength in the first weeks of the
Giro d'Italia and was
even in 10th place in the general classification after ten days. In the end, he faltered a bit and finished 35th in Italy.
But shortly thereafter, he claimed his first professional victories by winning the second stage and the overall classification of the
Tour de l'Ain. He also finished eighth in the Tour of Burgos. After this fantastic year, however, Beloki decided to leave his team and sign with
Netcompany INEOS.

Beloki wants to develop as a stage racer
"The move to Netcompany INEOS is a really exciting step for me," he says on
his new team's website. "I've already learned so much in my first few seasons as a pro, and those experiences have only made me more ambitious about what I want to achieve. There’s still plenty of room for improvement, and I’m looking forward to taking the next step here together with the riders and the staff.”
At his new team, he hopes above all to learn a lot. “My ambition is to develop as a stage racer and ultimately compete for results in the Grand Tours. I know it requires patience and consistent effort, so the opportunity to learn from experienced teammates, contribute to their successes, and make the most of my own opportunities motivates me tremendously.”
Geraint Thomas is thrilled about Beloki's arrival. “Markel is a great talent and someone we’ve been following for a few years now. He has tremendous potential, and I’m very excited to work with him and help him take the next steps in his development. He’s a fantastic addition to our team, further strengthening our future.”
