Disagreements in racing are as old as the sport itself, but we don't often see them as conspicuously as we did on Friday. Svrček got into a confrontation with Dujardin, with the Czech rider being the first to hand out a tap to the Frenchman. The latter looked surprised and quickly decided to return
a somewhat harder blow. It was all captured on camera.
The jury of Brabantse Pijl, which was
surprisingly won by Anders Foldager (Jayco AlUla), felt that the behaviour was unacceptable – which is quite logical – and therefore decided to intervene. Both riders were given a yellow card, a deduction of ten UCI points, and a fine of 100 Swiss francs. A bit like in football, then: a scuffle? Yellow for both.
