A remarkable moment occurred on Friday in Brabantse Pijl as Martin Svrček (Soudal Quick-Step) and Sandy Dujardin (TotalEnergies) clashed. The Czech rider struck first, after which he received a blow in return from the Frenchman. Both riders were penalised by the jury after the finish.

Disagreements in racing are as old as the sport itself, but we don't often see them as conspicuously as we did on Friday. Svrček got into a confrontation with Dujardin, with the Czech rider being the first to hand out a tap to the Frenchman. The latter looked surprised and quickly decided to return a somewhat harder blow. It was all captured on camera.
The jury of Brabantse Pijl, which was surprisingly won by Anders Foldager (Jayco AlUla), felt that the behaviour was unacceptable – which is quite logical – and therefore decided to intervene. Both riders were given a yellow card, a deduction of ten UCI points, and a fine of 100 Swiss francs. A bit like in football, then: a scuffle? Yellow for both.
