Instagram followers had been waiting for it for a while, and on Friday evening, it finally appeared: the annual Tour de France post by Urska Zigart. The fiancée of Tadej Pogacar delights us every year with a wonderful photo series leading up to the three weeks of the Tour de France. This year, she has once again pulled out all the stops, with lovely snapshots from the past year. “Here it is, the most important post of the year,” writes Zigart, knowing that the cycling world has been eagerly awaiting it. “Not a big story behind those photos… from vacation to hard work, full circle, like every year. One common thing on all of them is Tadej, how I see him and how he looks to me,” she says lovingly.
Urska has selected photos showing Pogacar on vacation, cycling, and smiling. “I once read, that you are a different person to everyone you meet in your life. I feel blessed every day to have met you and who you are to me. Enjoy your lap
around France. Stay you and stay safe!”
Pogacar's parents sometimes find Tadej's fame quite complicated
Not only did his fiancée, Urska, wish Pogacar good luck, but his parents, Marjeta and Mirko, and brother, Tilen, also shared their thoughts via
De Telegraaf. From their charming home in 'a little paradise' in Slovenia, mother Marjeta thinks back to the singing, dancing, and smiling Tadej. “Hyperactive, sometimes to the point of irritation,” she says. Brother Tilen: "The hardest thing of all is that we have to miss him so much. You want Tadej to have everything because he is making his cycling dream come true. The downside of all that fame is that we don't get to see him very often, unfortunately."
It will be the same in July, with Pogacar racing in France for four weeks. “We keep in touch a lot via WhatsApp, or we call, but it's not the same. He comes to Komenda at most twice a year. Yes, we're going to follow the entire Tour, but even then, we won't see him very often. He'll be busy with the race and we don't want to bother him.” His mom said: “I usually read articles about Tadej, and then I know he's doing well. We want him to have this life because who from Slovenia can say they travel all over the world?” Dad Mirko: “I like Tadej better when I see him more often.”
Two proud parents with four healthy children will be cheering Pogacar on in July despite the family's otherwise normal life in their small house in Slovenia. “Sometimes it would be better if he wasn't a superstar and Tadej could just enjoy cycling, but unfortunately, that's not how it works,” Pogi's brother concludes meaningfully.
