Pidcock's team had accidentally registered the wrong one of the two British brothers for the Italian autumn classic.
“It was a mistake,” the Olympic mountain biking champion said with a laugh in an interview with
CyclingProNet. “There was some chaos on the bus this morning when they found out my brother was registered.”
In the end, it was Tom, and not Joseph, who was competing. “He's in Japan, so it would have been difficult for him to make the start,” he said with a wink.
Pidcock was unable to build on his strong result in the Giro dell'Emilia (second place), but he was active in the final phase
of the race won by Tadej Pogacar.
