Dylan van Baarle was involved in a collision in Tiel on Wednesday. The Soudal Quick-Step rider was struck by a car on Wednesday morning, causing a moment of panic for his friends and family. Van Baarle’s season has come to an abrupt end, as his partner Pauline Ferrand-Prévot shared with her followers.

Fiancée Ferrand-Prévot shares sad news on social media
It was his partner, Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, who shared the news on social media. “Dylan was involved in a car accident this morning while he was training. He was taken to the hospital immediately.”

"He took a hard blow to the head; the helmet definitely saved his life," Ferrand-Prévot said gratefully. "He also has a broken arm, and the surgery will take place tomorrow—thanks to Soudal Quick-Step for arranging it so quickly."
"I'm very, very grateful that it all turned out reasonably well," said the Frenchwoman.

"And I’m truly grateful that we have friends like these who made this truly awful, long, and stressful day a little less terrible. I’m going to sleep alone for a few nights, but I think that’s part of the tradition leading up to the big wedding day."
The two are getting married soon. Ferrand-Prévot previously said she was looking forward immensely to the big day. She couldn't believe it was so soon, and that she would be "Mrs van Baarle".

Soudal Quick-Step provides medical update on Van Baarle
Soudal Quick-Step also shared an update following Van Baarle's crash in Tiel. "After the incident, Dylan was taken to the hospital, where he underwent a CT scan. Fortunately, the scan revealed no damage to his skull or spine."

"However, he did suffer a broken wrist, which will require surgery and brings his season to an end. Everyone in the Wolfpack family wishes Dylan a speedy recovery," the team said.
