Just 21 years old and already being listed among the favorites for a WorldTour race, Paul Magnier’s career is moving fast, and the Frenchman has only himself to thank. Since June, the young talent has won three one-day races and underlined his status as a future star at the Tour of Poland, where he managed to win stage 4 in an impressive way.
Magnier, who made his pro debut for Soudal–Quick Step in 2024, already has ten professional wins to his name. In the revamped ADAC Cyclassics Hamburg, both rider and team are hoping to add another, with a course that appears to play to his strengths. The German organizers have made the race tougher this year: not only is it longer (207.4 km compared to 177.5 km in 2024), it also features more climbing and five ascents of the Waseberg (0.7 km at 8.1%), the key obstacle of the day. The final ascent comes with 16 km to go.

Route changes in Magnier’s favor: "Hamburg has never been easy"

The Belgian squad believes the changes will work to Magnier’s advantage. “We’re going to Germany with a solid team, one that can support Paul in his bid for a good result,” said sports director Wilfried Peeters. “The course is hard, which is no surprise, Hamburg has never been an easy race, but we have the confidence and motivation to do our best.”
It will be Magnier’s debut on German soil. His teammates for Sunday are Mattia Cattaneo, Antoine Huby, Casper Pedersen, Pepijn Reinderink, Martin Svrcek, and Jordi Warlop. “Other riders from the team might get their chance depending on how the race plays out, but if it comes to a sprint, we’ll all be working for Paul,” Peeters made clear.
