The Vuelta a España and Primož Roglič are a perfect match. The Slovenian has visited Spain six times in his career, often to rectify yet another disappointment from the Tour de France. This year was no different, culminating in a fourth overall victory—matching Roberto Heras—and the end is still not in sight...
Roglic's fourth overall victory did not come easily. While he often seemed the strongest, he also showed moments of weakness. Not surprising, considering Roglic had quit the Tour de France with a broken vertebra and had barely recovered from it. Yet, he has repeatedly shown that he doesn’t need to be 100% to return to top form.
“Co-record holder, nice,” Roglic begins his flash interview with a brief comment on matching Heras's record. “Today, I wanted to finish it off, but it was tough. In the end, everything went well, so I’m happy. We knew Stefan Küng (the stage winner in the final time trial, e.d.) is strong in such flat time trials, but I motivated myself to go all out. I pushed hard and want to congratulate Stefan. He was extremely strong today.”

Roglic isn’t ready to think about a fifth Vuelta win
"I’m at a loss for words, this is unbelievable," Roglic stammers further when discussing his overall victory. He is also the third Slovenian Grand Tour winner of the year, following Tadej Pogačar’s victories in the Giro d’Italia and the Tour de France. "You sacrifice so much, including my family and everyone around me. We live for this, so I’m happy to have done it again for the people. As for a fifth? It’s never enough, but four is already incredible. I’ll first enjoy this one."
