Yates praises teammate Fisher-Black, who joins him on the podium in Oman: "It wasn't easy for him"

Adam Yates won the fifth and final stage of the Tour of Oman on Wednesday morning. The Brit from UAE Team Emirates also took the lead in the general classification, thus adding a new prize to his honors list. However, after the race, Yates also focused on his teammate Finn Fisher-Black. Fisher-Black had been in the lead, held on for a long time, but eventually lost his jersey to teammate Yates.

Yates himself was certainly pleased with how the day went, although he also found the climb of Green Mountain challenging. "The climb was super steep, even though there were flatter sections where you could recover. I was not familiar with the climb, it was my first time here. But on those sections of twelve or thirteen percent... It was good for me, a new race in a new country. To then win, is really beautiful", said Yates about his victory.

Yates thinks we will see a lot of Fisher-Black this year

The victory might have had a slightly bitter taste, as Yates took the red jersey from his teammate Fisher-Black. Yates had words of praise for his teammate. "We knew that Finn was in great form. He wanted to win a stage here in Oman. Today we tried to set things up for him, but he is a great rider. At a certain point, it became very steep and it wasn't easy for him anymore. Still, he did an amazing job. He has shown this week that he is in great shape, I am sure we will see more of him this year", Yates praised his friend, who joined him in third place on the final podium, in the flash interview.

Fisher-Black came over the finish line exhausted and visibly needed to recover from the exertion in the heat of Oman. The New Zealander immediately sat down after the finish.
