Marianne Vos returns to gravel racing and is aiming for another world title, this time in Australia

Marianne Vos will return to racing after the Tour de France Femmes. The Dutch rider from Visma | Lease a Bike will focus on gravel racing at the end of the road season. In the discipline where she became world champion two years ago, she will once again make a bid for the rainbow jersey in October in Nannup, Australia.

Vos has already won three world road championships, two world track championships, and no fewer than eight world cyclocross championships. In 2024, she added another world title in a different discipline to her list of achievements. In Leuven, Belgium, she impressively defeated home favorite Lotte Kopecky, thereby claiming her fourteenth rainbow jersey.

In May 2025, she raced in another gravel race in Germany, which she won right away. She was unable to defend her world title: in Limburg, she finished second behind Lorena Wiebes in a notorious edition where the Dutch riders were bunched together. After that world championship, she didn’t race on a gravel bike again, but instead focused on road racing.

This year, her season was completely thrown off track by illness in her family. Her father was unwell and passed away this spring. As a result, she missed quite a few races, although she did finish second in Paris-Roubaix just one week after his death. In August, she rode the Tour de France Femmes, but she hasn’t competed since then, except for a criterium on Belgian soil.

But there’s still a major goal ahead this fall. Vos will compete in the Gravel World Championships—held in Western Australia— for the third year in a row. On October 10 in Nannup, she’ll be aiming for her second world title on unpaved roads. So far, Tiffany Cromwell and Ashleigh Moolman Pasio, among others, have also confirmed their participation.
