Comfortable with social media and AI, and up to speed on what these tools can do? We’re hiring a (Native) English Growth Editor with a strong eye for presentation and a deep grasp of professional cycling, major races, teams, and trends. You’ll help scale
IDL Pro Cycling’s English platform and international reach across editorial, evergreen content, SEO/CMS optimisation, social distribution, AI/automation, and metrics.
About IDL Pro Cycling
IDL Pro Cycling is the
English-language brand of In de Leiderstrui. We cover pro cycling daily with race coverage, news, features and explainers. We’re now growing IDL into a bigger, smarter, always-on cycling destination.
The role
You’ll be the force behind IDL’s English platform and its international expansion. Beyond translation, you will identify and ship what’s missing: daily coverage, evergreen guides, on-site optimisations, social distribution, and AI automation.
What you’ll do
- Editorial: Plan and publish daily articles, recaps, explainers, and interviews; spot and fill topical gaps.
- Evergreen/“green” content: Build season-proof guides (races, teams, riders, tech, training) and keep them fresh.
- SEO & CMS: Optimise headlines, taxonomies, linking, and article templates; maintain a tidy, fast CMS footprint.
- Social growth: Own IDL’s tone on Facebook, X, and Instagram; test formats; create simple graphics/snippets.
- AI & automation: Use and help build AI agents (e.g., research, summarisation, internal alerts, briefs) within policy.
- Translation: Turn Dutch articles into natural, publication ready English in IDL’s style.
- Metrics: Monitor dashboard and track growth and traffic sources.
You are...
- Native English with a sharp news sense and clean copy.
- Deeply into road cycling (other disciplines a plus); you follow the calendar and storylines.
- Confident in SEO fundamentals and modern CMS use.
- Comfortable with social scheduling, basic image editing, and analytics.
- Curious about AI; you test tools and can document simple workflows.
- Organized, proactive, and fine with weekend/evening shifts during key races.
Nice to have
- Experience at a sports newsroom or publisher.
- Basic HTML or markdown; experience with Newsifier or similar CMS.
What we offer
- Flexible zero-hours* engagement with shifts ramping around the race calendar.
- A collaborative team that ships quickly and iterates.
- Room to shape IDL’s roadmap across editorial, SEO, social, and AI
How to apply
Email info@valkeringmedia.nl with:
- CV
- 2–3 links to any past writing (or attached samples)
- A short note (≤150 words) on how you’d grow IDL in 3 months
* What is a zero-hours contract?
A zero-hours contract is a flexible engagement with no guaranteed minimum hours. You’re paid for the hours you work, and shifts/hours may vary week to week (e.g., more during Grand Tours). Availability and scheduling are agreed case by case. All statutory rights apply per local law; this arrangement mainly provides flexibility for both parties.
