While the Tour de France Femmes was taking place, there was also a race in Guadeloupe, a French overseas department in the Caribbean Sea. There, a remarkable incident occurred: Dutch cyclists Niels Tenniglo and Huub van Kapel were disqualified for cheating.
Tenniglo and Van Kapel were disqualified because they hid behind cars and then rejoined the peloton a lap later. However, this was captured on camera, leaving the jury with no choice but to take action.
The Dutchmen, riding for GRC Van Arckel, had fallen behind due to crashes and flat tires, according to local media. Frédéric Théobald, chairman of the jury, did not appreciate Tenniglo and Van Arckel's actions. In addition to their disqualification, the two were also fined 100 Swiss francs.
