Remco Evenepoel (Red Bull-BORA-hansgrohe) won the GP Quebec on Friday, ahead of Lidl-Trek's Giulio Ciccone. The team rode an almost perfect race, but still ended the day on a sour note: Juan Ayuso crashed in the chasing group and subsequently limped across the finish line in the Canadian WorldTour race.

Ayuso was in the chasing group alongside Toms Skujins and Quinn Simmons, behind the leading trio of Evenepoel, Anthon Charmig and Ciccone. Behind them was another group containing the other favorites.
The footage below showed Paul Seixas (Decathlon CMA CGM) suddenly swerving sharply to the left and taking Ayuso down. It was impossible to tell whether that happened because a Lotto-Intermarché rider — Jenno Berckmoes or Simone Gualdi — moved off his line, but Seixas crossed the finish line shaking his head.

Ayuso remained on the ground in pain for a moment, but eventually got back to his feet and walked the final 50 meters across the finish line. There, he assessed the damage, which at first glance appeared to be mainly on his right side. The Spaniard is normally set to lead the Spanish team at the World Cycling Championships in Montreal in two weeks' time.
