Saturday was Tim Declercq's farewell criterium in Belgium. The Lidl-Trek rider, who had previously been at Quick Step for many years, managed to enlist many friends and colleagues for his final race, but the children also came along and were able to compete.
For example, an Instagram video on the account
cycling__for__cycling shows Georges van Aert participating in the Kids race, as well as those of others riders.
Dad Wout set Georges - dressed in a jersey of the Belgian national selection - ready for the start himself. The four-year-old then went all out and eventually finished in third place.

Among the "regular" men, victory obviously went to Declercq, who afterwards symbolically hung his bike on the hook and then headed to the after party.
Van Aert himself was asked at the start
about his cross plans for the coming period. 'I started training the past few weeks, the real preparation can start in about 10 days. I first want to wait and see how it all feels, to make a realistic plan. I also have to take into account the road season that is coming up: just a little more patience," said the Visma | Lease a Bike rider.
