🎥 Stunning footage: Tour de France riders stop on Champs-Élysées to witness Van der Poel’s nail-biting victory

The final stage of the Tour de France is one we will not forget anytime soon. Mathieu van der Poel sealed victory on the Champs-Élysées in the final centimetres with one last surge. Several fellow riders stopped during the closing stage to watch the dramatic conclusion on a large screen, producing remarkable footage.

Van der Poel broke away from the rest of the peloton with Tadej Pogačar on the final passage over Montmartre. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG rider faded on the finishing straight, after which Van der Poel squeezed out every last drop of energy to reach the line first. He only just managed to hold off the rapidly approaching peloton.

At the back of the peloton, the riders were mainly focused on reaching the finish. Dylan van Baarle, Valentin Paret-Peintre of Soudal Quick-Step, Warren Barguil of Picnic PostNL and Alex Baudin of EF Education-EasyPost were among those who stopped to watch the end of the stage on a large screen. Several other riders followed their example and briefly parked their bikes on the Parisian avenue.

After watching Van der Poel cross the finish line, they climbed back onto their bikes to officially complete their Tour de France.
