Mathieu van der Poel and Wout van Aert have made it a habit in 2025 to post photo recaps on social media regularly. The Dutch rider from Alpecin-Deceuninck does this every month, while his Belgian colleague from Visma | Lease a Bike gives a weekly glimpse into his life. On Sunday, Van der Poel posted his review of July, which for him was, of course, partly dominated by the Tour de France. He won a stage and wore the yellow jersey, but he was also stung by an insect and ultimately had to abandon the race due to pneumonia.
In his story, Van der Poel adds: “Let's see what August brings 👀.” It is not yet clear when he will make his return to competition, although he has stated on several occasions that the Mountain Bike World Championships in Switzerland in September are a major goal.

Van Aert photographed for new passport photo the day after the Tour
For Van Aert, last week was mainly about post-Tour activities.
We see him smiling with a beer, doing activities with his children, and... getting a new passport photo.
"My worst idea of the week: renewing my passport the day after the Tour," he says with a smile.
