Tibor Del Grosso finished fifteenth in the Copenhagen Sprint on Sunday, but the Dutchman was furious after the race because of the role a motorcyclist allegedly played in the Danish one-day race. The 21-year-old rider from Alpecin-Deceuninck had a teammate at the front but saw from the peloton that the breakaway had no chance. The brand new
Copenhagen Sprint lived up to its name, ending in a bunch sprint for women and men on Saturday and Sunday. Lorena Wiebes was the best on Saturday, and a day later, Jordi Meeus sprinted to victory. However, according to Del Grosso, things could have turned out differently if the peloton had not received so much help in the chase.
According to the talented rider, the sprinter teams gained far too much advantage from a motorcyclist riding ahead of the peloton. “It's unbelievable how one man can control the break on his own. 236 kilometers, but not afraid to pull from the start. His right wrist was in insane shape, made everyone hurt in the back of the bunch all day.”

Plowright and other breakaway riders had no chance in Copenhagen Sprint
Words were spoken with a great deal of cynicism and sarcasm because Del Grosso would have preferred to see the breakaway group with his teammate Jensen Plowright stay away. The 25-year-old Australian was on the road with George Jackson (Burgos Burpellet BH), Victor Vercouille (Flanders - Baloise), Mads Andersen, and Joshua Gudnitz (Danish national team). They were given a maximum lead of four minutes.
That wasn't enough to stay away. Del Grosso isn't implying that it would have been without the motorbike, but he believes that the sprinters' teams didn't have to work too hard to make it come down to a sprint. “Surely this cameramoto gets signed by somebody,” concluded the all-rounder from Mathieu van der Poel's team.
Del Grosso returned to his statements later that evening when he received some comments on his
reaction on X. "I’m not complaining about the break being caught, would’ve made the same comment if Jensen wasn’t in the break. They had the advantage on the local lap. Just saying races get so massively influenced by the cameramotos."
