A brand-new biographical film about Lance Armstrong is in development, with Austin Butler set to portray the former Tour de France winner, multiple US outlets report. Butler is best known to mainstream audiences for his leading role in Elvis, and the Armstrong project is already attracting significant interest in Hollywood. Armstrong had to hand back seven Tour de France wins
Armstrong’s story remains one of the most dramatic—and controversial—in modern cycling. He returned to the sport after cancer and won the Tour de France seven times between 1999 and 2005, but later lost those titles after admitting to doping, and received a lifetime ban from the UCI.

voice in the sport through his THEMOVE platform, where he regularly discusses the biggest races and storylines.
Butler, known for his role as Elvis, was set to star in the biopic, which attracted considerable interest from the major streaming services. Amazon appears to have won the bidding war.
