Lidl-Trek already have time trial powerhouse among the ranks
Söderqvist now has eight career victories to his name. On Thursday, he claimed his second win in the Eneco Tour. After winning the prologue in The Hague by a very narrow margin on Tuesday, there was no doubt two days later in Tilburg about who was the strongest. Söderqvist finished more than 11 seconds ahead of second-place finisher Finn Fischer-Black.
It was further confirmation that Lidl-Trek has a time trial powerhouse on its roster in the Swede, as his victories in time trials have been particularly notable since his arrival in 2024. For example, earlier this year he finished third in a time trial at the Tour of the Algarve, second in the prologue at the Tour de Romandie, and fifth in the elite men’s category at the World Championships in Montreal.

Söderqvist took risks on the turns of the Eneco Tour
After his second victory in the Eneco Tour, Söderqvist sat down for a flash interview with a big smile on his face. “It was a fast time trial, with not too much headwind, so it was faster than last year. There were some fast turns —I really like those because they keep you on your toes. I enjoyed it more than I usually do.”
With his time trial victories, Söderqvist has firmly secured the leader’s jersey. However, challenging stages still await in Arnhem and Hoogeveen. “So far, everything is going well, just as planned. I rode well here last year, too, so this race suits me. I’m back in form now, so we hope to keep this leader’s jersey. We know how strong the competition is, but we’re here to fight.”

Söderqvist shrugs off Ganna's arrival

When asked about Ganna’s surprising move to Lidl-Trek in 2027, Söderqvist remained a bit more level-headed. The Italian rider from Netcompany INEOS is one of the best time trialists in cycling history, but: “I haven’t really thought about what his arrival might mean for me yet.”
Ride with Ganna on the track this winter? Test ride together? Get tips from the former world champion? Söderqvist started laughing: “It’s a really great move for Lidl-Trek; the team is ambitious. We’ll see what we can do for each other; right now, I’m focused on the Eneco Tour. After that, we’ll start making plans for 2027.”
