After twenty grueling stages, the 2026 Tour de France is almost over. But don’t worry: the best part is about to begin. The Alps will still be taking their toll on the riders’ legs. The two finishes at Alpe d’Huez were grueling, and with Tadej Pogacar and Richard Carapaz, Stages 19 and 20 had two well-deserved winners. “On to Paris,” said the riders, who were taken to the French capital by TGV. But not before the organisers had one more surprise in store.

The forest fires in France have kept the police and fire departments very busy. As a result, the route for the final stage has been adjusted: the start in Thoiry has been canceled, so the race will consist solely of laps around the Champs-Élysées. The climb to Montmartre is still part of the route, but the riders will only have to cover 89 kilometers.

Last year, Montmartre was included in the course for the first time. Due to the bad weather, it was decided not to count the finish times toward the overall standings. It could very well rain again this year. Will we once again face wet cobblestones on the climb?
