Mikkel Honoré has finally secured a contract for 2027. The Danish rider’s contract with EF Education-EasyPost had expired, and he was in limbo for a while, but starting next season he will ride for Jayco AlUla. His new team announced this on Tuesday. Honoré finished in the top 20 at both the World and European Championships
Honoré has been a mainstay in tough one-day races for several years now, but he has also had his fair share of bad luck. This season, a crash threw a wrench in his spring plans, but in the fall, he once again showed what he’s capable of.
Thus, the Dane—who is still only 29—finished third in the Marco Pantani Memorial, came in second behind Mathieu van der Poel in the latter’s famous solo victory at the Tour of Luxembourg, and finished in the top 20 at both the World Championships and the European Championships.
So next season, Honoré will ride for Jayco AlUla, after five years with Quick Step and four years with EF. “I’m incredibly happy to be joining the team next year. It means a lot to me, and it’s an important moment in my career to make this kind of change and embrace the mindset and philosophy of Jayco AlUla.”
Crash brought new perspective for the Dane
"The crash I had earlier this season has given me a completely different perspective on life and cycling. Overall, I feel much more grateful that I can do what I love so much. I think I enjoy racing much more now than I did before. I feel that, with all my experience and ambitions, I still have a lot to offer, and I’m really looking forward to being part of Jayco AlUla and achieving great things together in the future,” he says.

Jayco AlUla wants to help Honoré get back to his best
Gene Bates, Head of Performance at Jayco AlUla,
adds, “We are incredibly happy and pleased that Mikkel Honoré is joining the team for 2027 and 2028. He is, of course, a very important rider, with a wealth of experience and an excellent reputation. We look forward to welcoming him to the team and strengthening our roster for the one-day classics.”
"We've already performed well in that group this year, with riders like Schmid, Matthews, Vendrame, Covi, and others. That's where we've been strongest, and it's fantastic that Mikkel is further strengthening that group and adding extra expertise. It was inspiring to see how Mikkel made such a strong recovery after a very serious crash earlier this season.”
"He's back in top form, having had a strong World Championships over the past two months, among other things. Mikkel is coming straight from the Tour of Guangxi to our 2027 training camp in northern Italy this week, and we look forward to welcoming him to the GreenEDGE family," he concludes on behalf of the Aussies.
