Paul Seixas is back on his bike after the World Cycling Championships in Montreal. The 20-year-old Frenchman from Decathlon CMA CGM was one of the top favourites, but suffered from cramps in the final and consequently finished a lowly 15th. Three days after the World Championships, Seixas was spotted back on Strava breaking some KOM records. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we saw several World Championship participants pop up on Strava doing recovery rides in preparation for this coming weekend’s European Championships; Seixas isn’t racing in Slovenia, so he just kept training hard in France.
Seixas already training harder than Evenepoel and Ciccone
He resumed training with a 66.45-kilometre ride, which took just over 2 hours. It wasn't a long ride, but it was a bit more intense than the rides by Remco Evenepoel and Giulio Ciccone, two favorites for
Sunday's European Championship.
Seixas completed the training session at 31.8 kilometers per hour, which was slower than Evenepoel's average of 34.4 kilometers per hour on Tuesday. It was faster than the 29 and 27 kilometers per hour posted by Italians Ciccone and Giulio Pellizzari.

Seixas sets two new Strava KOM records
Everyone experiences the World Championships differently, and on Wednesday, Seixas already clocked 1,400 meters of elevation gain in just 66 kilometers. And that wasn't all. In addition to setting several personal records, Seixas also went all-in once.
On the
Grimpée de Lachassagne—a 3.05-kilometre climb with an average gradient of 5.7 percent—Seixas blazed past the Strava KOM by a whopping 27 seconds, a record previously held by club rider Axel Chatelus. Seixas powered up the climb at 31.3 kilometers per hour, while Axel did so in 2021 at 29 kilometers per hour.
That wasn’t the only KOM Seixas set a new record for on Wednesday. On the
Montée d'Anse, the Frenchman covered 1.83 kilometers at an average gradient of 8.3 percent in just 4 minutes and 29 seconds. That made him 32 seconds faster than former pro David Moncoutié in 2022.
Seixas now also holds the records for
a shorter section of the Montée Anse and the
Mur de Anse segment.
