Pluimers broke through last year with victory in the Muscat Classic, which he followed up with an impressive fifth place at Kuurne–Brussels–Kuurne and a runner-up spot at Tirreno–Adriatico. The 25-year-old wanted to measure himself against the very best this spring, but a crash on the Molenberg
threw a spanner in the works. He lost his teeth in the incident and could not start in Kuurne the next day.
It was a major disappointment for the ambitious Pluimers, yet Tudor nevertheless announced the contract extension: the Swiss team has tied down the punchy, fast classics rider until the end of 2029. “Committing my future to Tudor Pro Cycling was an easy decision and I didn’t hesitate a single second when I got the chance to extend my contract,” said Pluimers on
the team website. “The Team’s culture and vision align perfectly with my own goals, which makes me excited to contribute to our continued success. Furthermore, the long-term contract demonstrates the trust the Team has in me and, at the same time, gives me security, confidence, and time to fully focus on my job and my personal development.”
The long-term deal is a real statement from the team. Tudor Pro Cycling CEO and co-owner Raphael Meyer could not hide his happiness about keeping Pluimers on board: “Rick embodies the spirit and drive we value at Tudor Pro Cycling and plays an important role for our long term growth and strategy. His commitment perfectly matches to our shared ambitions, and we look forward to many more great moments with Rick - on and off the bike.”
