While UAE Emirates-XRG is busy battling it out in Italy to win the Giro d'Italia, another part of the Emirates team is logically preparing for the Tour de France. This includes lead rider Tadej Pogacar, although the Slovenian, who lives in Monaco, interrupted his altitude training for a few days to
experience the Formula 1 Grand Prix last weekend
. Pogacar has already spent the past few weeks in the Sierra Nevada, where his opponents Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | Lease a Bike) and Remco Evenepoel (Soudal Quick-Step) are also
staying to prepare for the Tour de France.
The three-time winner of the Tour de France returned to the Mediterranean for a few days last weekend, where he enjoyed Formula 1 in Monaco with his partner Urska Zigart. "What a great weekend," Pogacar wrote on social media. The UAE Emirates-XRG rider also cycled with drivers Carlos Sainz and Oliver Bearman, as seen in the photo series posted by Pogacar.
"Now I'm returning to my altitude training, which isn't even that far from Barcelona," Pogacar jokes. The next Grand Prix in the most prestigious motorsport class will take place there this Sunday.
While the lead rider returned to his residence, the mood among the other UAE Emirates-XRG riders was good. Tim Wellens posted a photo on social media showing Rune Herregodts, Florian Vermeersch, Pavel Sivakov, Nils Politt, Joao Almeida, and Marc Soler, among others.
