Three-time British champion to leave Picnic PostNL after 8 years and join UAE: 'I love the classics'

Picnic PostNL is losing one of its key riders. Pfeiffer Georgi will leave the Dutch team and sign a three-year contract with UAE Team L'Imad. The 25-year-old British rider has been with the team for eight years but has now decided to embark on a new adventure.

Georgi turned pro in 2019, at just 18 years old. After two years of competing at that level, she really began to make a name for herself in 2021. She won her first professional race and became an increasingly prominent figure, especially during the spring season. In 2022, she finished fourth in Dwars door Vlaanderen and ninth in Paris-Roubaix, while a year later she won the Classic Brugge–De Panne and recorded several top results.

In 2024, she finished third in Paris-Roubaix, one of the best performances of her career. The past two years have been a bit more challenging for the British rider, partly due to injuries. But she’s still very young. Yet she already has a wealth of experience at the highest level. After eight years with Picnic PostNL, she’s now embarking on a new adventure with UAE Team L’Imad.

Of course, leaving the old nest does hurt a bit. Megan Arens had already left the team earlier. “I’ve raced on the same team as a pro for eight years and am excited to start fresh in a new environment at this stage of my career,” she says on her new team’s website. “I’ve gained a lot of experience and now want to continue developing as a rider.”

She especially wants to do that on her favorite terrain. “I love the classics and think their character—with short, tough climbs, cobblestones, and bad weather—suits me well. I’m absolutely passionate about one-day races, and my favorite is Paris-Roubaix.” The three-time British champion also says she wants to improve her climbing to be more useful to her team.

They are very pleased with the new addition. “Pfeiffer is a rider we’ve been following with great interest, and she has already proven her abilities at the highest level, particularly in the classics,” says President Melissa Moncada. “She’s still young, but she’s already gained significant experience and shown that she has the strength, character, and talent to compete for the biggest victories. We’re extremely excited about what this new chapter could mean for her.”
