Vaughters and Pinot battle it out on Twitter: "Can't read this tweet through all his tears"

The eccentric team boss of EF Education-EasyPost, Jonathan Vaughters, has once again caused some controversy. On Twitter, he praised the sportsmanship of his rider Ben Healy after the latter narrowly missed the victory in the fifteenth stage of the Giro d'Italia. Aside from this, Vaughters couldn't resist taking a dig at Thibaut Pinot.

"I'm proud that Ben Healy congratulated the winner and didn't go crying to the media about life being unfair. Great attitude, great person, great rider," Vaughters said in a tweet.

When someone asked if Vaughters was referring to someone in particular by his statement about "crying to the media," Vaughters mentioned Pinot. The Frenchman clearly did not appreciate this and agitatedly responded with "Who are you?" to which Vaughters cleverly replied, "Pinot Noir!" - referring to the French wine.
