Visma | Lease a Bike surprises Wout van Aert with green show at Vuelta a España

Follow us on GoogleWout van Aert was treated to a special show by Visma | Lease a Bike. The Belgian rider only has to finish stage 21 to secure the points classification at the Vuelta a España. As has become customary by now, that achievement also comes with a special bike.

Winners of the major classifications in Grand Tours have received a special outfit and a special bike on the final day of the race for many years. Van Aert was no exception. The all-rounder impressed for three weeks and eventually won the green jersey by a comfortable margin.

The fact that Van Aert also came close to winning the polka dot jersey for the mountains classification says everything about the form he showed and maintained throughout the Vuelta a España. On the final day, there is also a great opportunity for him to add a third stage victory to his tally.

Van Aert can win three times, Visma | Lease a Bike eight times
It would be victory number eight for Visma | Lease a Bike, who also won five times with sprinter Matthew Brennan. In addition, Van Aert and his teammates helped Sepp Kuss move from 11th to 5th place in the general classification during Stage 20.
There were only smiling faces when Van Aert was called outside by Visma | Lease a Bike together with the team and the green Cervélo for stage 21 was presented. This was accompanied by a “green” spectacle with all the mechanics from the team’s equipment truck suddenly wearing green jerseys.
Eventually, the entire Vuelta squad posed for a photo with Van Aert and his green machine.
