After stage seven on the Mûr de Bretagne, the talk of the town was of course mainly about Tadej Pogacar’s stage win and reclaiming the yellow jersey. But the Slovenian rider from UAE Team Emirates-XRG stole the show on many other occasions on Friday. Before, during, and after the stage, Pogi was busy with fans, cracking jokes on the bike, and offering comforting words after a perhaps slightly heated discussion with Visma | Lease a Bike. Pogacar started stage seven of the Tour still without the yellow jersey, having lost it the day before to Mathieu van der Poel by exactly one second. But
in his rainbow jersey as world champion, the three-time Tour winner was clearly enjoying himself, as shown by a
classic prank he pulled on Tudor team leader and former UAE teammate
Marc Hirschi. The Swiss rider fell for it completely.

Pogacar poses for a photo with 13 African riders
After securing the stage win and the yellow jersey on Friday afternoon, the celebrations could begin. Pogacar celebrated with 13 African cyclists, who joined him on the podium as a tribute to African cycling. First, they were allowed to ride the local circuit of the stage, and at the finish they got a photo with Pogacar as well as his winner’s flowers. For one of the riders, it even brought a tear to his eye.
